Civil Litigation refers to court proceedings in which individuals or companies are seeking a remedy from a court or tribunal. The remedies sought typically involve orders for the payment of money, or orders directing another party to do something or not do something.

Members of our Civil Litigation group have appeared before all the Courts of Ontario, including the Court of Appeal, Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. They have also appeared before many administrative boards and tribunals, including the Ontario Municipal Board, Coroner's Inquests, the Tax Court of Canada, the Immigration Appeal Tribunal, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission, the Social Benefits Tribunal, the Financial Services Commission, the Pension Appeals Board, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, the Human Rights Commission, and the Boundaries Tribunal.
In addition to the group's ability to address a broad spectrum of issues and problems, its members have developed special knowledge in certain areas including libel and slander, administrative law, insurance issues, estate disputes, professional negligence, employment law, property and boundary disputes, privacy law, municipal law, construction law, franchise litigation, finding solutions for special needs populations, enforcement of foreign judgments, and the provision of day to day advice to various institutions, boards and associations. We are especially proud to have included in our group James R. Caskey, Q.C., a premier trial lawyer and bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada, as well as the "senior" members of our group, Paul Strickland, Ray Leach and Renato Gasparotto, each of whom bring to our group over 25 years of litigation experience.
